Our Core Values

At Hillcrest Baptist, these values shape who we are, what we believe, and how we seek to follow Jesus together. They guide our ministry, influence our decisions, and reflect the kind of church we believe God has called us to be.

Biblical Truth

We are committed to clear, practical, and Christ-centered Bible preaching that helps people know God and live according to His Word.

Christ-Centered Living

We desire to help people know Jesus personally, grow spiritually, and boldly share their faith with others.

Authentic Worship

We believe worship is more than music—it is a life surrendered to God and centered on Jesus Christ.

Strong Families & The Next Generation

We are passionate about helping families build their lives on God’s Word and raising up children and teenagers to faithfully follow Jesus.

Loving People & Building Community

We believe church should feel like family—a place where people are welcomed, encouraged, and cared for.

Spiritual Growth & Holy Living

We desire to help believers mature in their faith and live lives that honor Jesus Christ.

Serving Locally & Reaching Globally

We believe every Christian has a purpose and every church has a mission to make the gospel known in our community and around the world.

Our Beliefs

These biblical truths shape our preaching, ministries, leadership, and mission as a church. While this is not an exhaustive statement of doctrine, it reflects the foundational beliefs we teach and hold to at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

  • The Bible

We believe the Bible is the verbally and plenarily inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible, God-breathed, and the final authority for faith, truth, and daily living.

We believe the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete revelation of God to mankind and are to be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning.

At Hillcrest Baptist Church, we are committed to clear, practical, and Christ-centered Bible preaching. As a matter of unity within our church family, we use the King James Version in our preaching and teaching ministries.

  • God

We believe there is one true and living God who eternally exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-eternal in being, coequal in power and glory, and possess the same divine attributes and perfections.

  • Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became man without ceasing to be God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, bodily rose again from the grave, ascended into Heaven, and will one day personally return again.

We believe Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation and fully satisfied the righteous judgment of a holy God against sin through His death and resurrection.

  • The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment and actively works in the lives of believers today. He regenerates, indwells, seals, teaches, comforts, strengthens, and empowers Christians to live for Jesus Christ.

We believe spiritual gifts are given by God for the edification of the church and that certain sign gifts were temporary in nature.

  • Humanity & Sin

We believe mankind was created in the image of God but fell through Adam’s sin.

As a result, every person inherits a sinful nature, is separated from God, and is utterly unable to remedy their lost condition apart from Jesus Christ.

  • Salvation

We believe salvation is the gift of God brought to mankind by grace and received through personal faith in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus shed His blood on Calvary for the forgiveness of sins, and every person who places their faith in Him receives eternal life.

We believe salvation cannot be earned through religion, works, or personal effort.

  • Eternal Security

We believe every true believer is eternally secure in Jesus Christ and kept by God’s power forever. Salvation is not maintained by human effort but by the faithfulness and power of God.

We also believe believers should live holy and obedient lives that reflect genuine faith in Christ.

  • The Church

We believe the local church is the body and bride of Christ and is made up of born-again believers.

The church exists to glorify God through biblical preaching, discipleship, worship, fellowship, evangelism, and missions.

We believe the local church is autonomous under the authority of Jesus Christ and that water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are the two Scriptural ordinances given to the church.

  • Christian Living

We believe believers are called to live holy, Christ-centered lives that honor God in both conduct and testimony. Christians should separate from sinful living, worldly philosophies, and anything that undermines biblical truth.

At the same time, we are called to demonstrate genuine love, grace, humility, and compassion toward all people while standing firmly upon God’s truth.

  • End Times

We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ. We believe Christ will rapture His church before the seven-year tribulation period and will later return visibly with His saints to establish His earthly kingdom.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the eternal joy of believers in Heaven, and the eternal punishment of unbelievers in Hell.

  • Creation

We believe the Genesis account of creation is a literal and historical account of God creating the universe in six literal, twenty-four-hour days. We reject evolutionary theories that contradict the biblical account of creation.

  • Marriage, Family, & Human Sexuality

We believe God created marriage to be the covenant union of one biological man and one biological woman for life. We believe God designed sexuality to be expressed only within biblical marriage.

We believe men and women are spiritually equal before God but have distinct biblical roles within the home and church. We believe the family is foundational to society and that parents are responsible for spiritually leading and discipling their children.

  • The Sanctity of Human Life

We believe human life is sacred and created by God beginning at conception and continuing until natural death. Because life is a gift from God, we believe abortion and euthanasia are contrary to Scripture and the value God places upon human life.

  • Missions

We believe God has commanded the church to take the gospel to every nation. We are committed to evangelism, church planting, discipleship, and worldwide missions so people everywhere can hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

  • Giving

We believe every Christian should faithfully and cheerfully support the work of the local church through biblical stewardship, tithes, and offerings as an act of worship and obedience to God.
