History of Hillcrest Baptist

Established in the city of Eastvale in 2014

Hillcrest Baptist Church was established in the city of Eastvale in 2014 with it’s very first service held at Vandermolen Elementary on November 16th. Paul Choi felt the leading of the Lord to plant a new church in a brand new city that was incorporated in 2010. During our first year of ministry, we were able to support four different missionaries. As of 2022, our church supports more than twenty missionaries and church planters around the world.

In 2018, our church was able to bring on our first staff member to assist in the pastoral leadership team. We also established our youth ministry during that year with six teenagers. The Lord continually blessed our church for the past several years with new believers, growing Christians, and faithful laborers for the gospel.

Our church continually gathered faithfully despite the recent COVID-19 pandemic. When we lost our meeting location in March 2020, we gathered for an year and a half at the parking lot of the Eastvale Community Center every Sunday morning at 9:30am. Our youth would gather at the stairs near the parking lot and our children met under a tent for their Bible class.

On March 27, 2021, Pastor Paul announced to our church family that he and his family were sensing the call and leading from the Lord to a different ministry in Lancaster, CA. Pastor Paul is currently involved in training future pastors, theologians, school teachers, and ministry workers for the gospel. The church established a pulpit committee and Nathan Kang served as the Interim Pastor during the search for a new Lead Pastor. During the transition, the Lord continually grew the church and strengthened our church family through the gospel. Despite several families experiencing trials and tragedies related to COVID-19, we continued to grow in our faith, our love for the Lord, and for one another.

On June 5th 2022, Matthew J. Miles was voted in as the second Lead Pastor of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He and his family moved to Eastvale and began his pastorate on July 1, 2022. Already, new visitors have been come to our church and believers continued to grow in discipleship and in their faith. We are excited to see what the Lord has in store for our church in the future, how the Lord will use us to further His kingdom, and to see many more lives transformed through the gospel of Jesus Christ!
